A butcher holds up sausages, known as Kranjska Klobasa (Krainer Sausage), at a butchery in Kranj April 19, 2012. Slovenia has made a bid for the minced pork sausage, which originated in Northern Slovenia during the 19th century, to be given protected EU status. However Austria, which has a popular cheese-filled variation of the sausage known as Kaesekrainer, is opposing Slovenia's bid. The EU commission has applied to the patenting office on behalf of Slovenia to claim exclusive rights to the cheese-filled sausage. If it is approved, sausage stands around Austria will no longer be able to order or sell the product. Picture taken April 19, 2012. REUTERS/Srdjan Zivulovic (SLOVENIA - Tags: FOOD POLITICS SOCIETY)
