People pass by after Pennsylvania Avenue opened to pedestrian traffic outside the White House in Washington November 9, 2004. After nearly a year of refurnishing, the two-block area in front of Lafayette Park was re-inaugurated by first lady Laura Bush. The street itself, the two-block section in front of and closest to the White House, has been closed to car traffic since 1995 for security reasons. REUTERS/Shaun Heasley SH/JRB
