Car plates are displayed in the sanctuary of Gauchito Gil a day before the anniversary of his death near the city of Mercedes, in the Argentine province of Corrientes north of Buenos Aires, January 7, 2008. Argentine folk saint Gauchito Gil refused to fight in a civil war and was forced to live as an outlaw, stealing from the rich to give to the poor. After being captured, Gil told his executioner that he should pray for Gil's help to cure his sick son. The executioner repented for killing him and his son recovered miraculously, starting the cult of Gauchito Gil. Every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims visit the sanctuary where Gil's body is said to have been buried. REUTERS/Enrique Marcarian (ARGENTINA)
