FILE PHOTO 23DEC89 - A young man waves a Romanian flag with the communist symbol cut out from the balcony of the central communist headquarters overlooking Republic square December 26, 1989. This month Romania celebrates in subdued mood 10 years since the violent uprising, during which the country's communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was toppled and shot on Christmas Day, 1989. More than 1,000 Romanians were killed across Romania during clashes between demonstrators and Ceausescu's security forces, in what amounted to eastern Europe's most violent anti-communist revolution.
