The Met Office is issuing a revised forecast for more unsettled weather well into the month, a far cry from the "barbecue summer" it predicted back in April. Britain's official forecaster said at the end of June that the rest of summer would probably be warmer than average with near average rainfall. But the chances of Britain seeing a hot and dry summer after two successive wet and mild summers have faded since then, with wet and cool weather spreading across the country again on Wednesday.
