Bosnian Serbs hold a protest in Pale
Bosnian Serbs hold a protest at the latest decision imposed by the international community's top peace envoy Miroslav Lajcak aimed to streamline the work of the central cabinet in their wartime stronghold of Pale, near the capital Sarajevo on October 29, 2007. The Serb leadership accused Lajcak of undermining the 1995 Dayton peace treaty which ended the 1992-95 war by dividing the Balkan country into two autonomous regions, the Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat federation. Serb leadership threatened to quit their positions in the central cabinet after Lajcak's decision and asked him to reverse it. REUTERS/Danilo Krstanovic (BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA)

Visitors walk next to a statue of James Keith at the Bode museum in Berlin October 20, 2007. Keith was governor of Berlin and a field marshal of Prussia when he was killed at the age of 62 in the battle of Hochkirch on October 14, 1758 during the Seven Years War. Keith's death 250 years ago fighting for Frederick the Great's Prussia is to be marked next year with a simple monument in the village where he was killed. Keith may be obscure now, but he was larger than life. He fought a slew of continental wars, governed regions that dwarfed his homeland and evaded the clutches of a Russian empress before fate finally caught up with him at the eastern village of Hochkirch in the Seven Years War. A committed freemason and rebel exile, Keith is a forgotten hero from Germany's Prussian past whose life reveals a lost network of connections across 18th-century Europe that some say modern Germany should revive. The shadow of a member of Iraq's National Symphony Orchestra (INSO) is cast on a wall during a practice session in Baghdad October 9, 2007. When the orchestra holds a concert in Baghdad, organisers don't like to advertise: in fact they would prefer as few people as possible know about it. The INSO, established in 1959, has survived decades of war, international sanctions, government neglect and vicious sectarian violence that has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and forced millions to flee for their lives. Some members have been kidnapped or killed in sectarian violence, others have received death threats and 29 have joined the exodus of more than 2 million people who have fled Iraq. But amid the discord, the orchestra seeks harmony. Its 60 members are an ethnic and religious cross-section of Iraqi society -- Shi'ite, Sunni Muslim and Christian, and Arab, Kurd and Turkman. They see themselves as a family of survivors. To match feature IRAQ-ORCHESTRA. REUTERS/Mohammed Ameen (IRAQ)

A man sunbathes on a beach in Hong Kong October 26, 2007. A growing trend in East Asia to soak up the sun either on
beaches or in tanning salons is worrying dermatologists in the region who say they are seeing a rise in skin cancer, which is
caused by cumulative over-exposure to the sun. Picture taken October 26, 2007. To match feature CANCER-SKIN/ASIA REUTERS/Bobby Yip (CHINA)

A car passes by closed and boarded up shops in the town of Barmedman October 17, 2007. Barmedman is a dying town in this part of central New South Wales state, 500 km (310 miles) west of Sydney. The number of farms in Australia has declined by 25 percent to near 130,000 over the past 20 years, as farmers leave the land and technology and mechanisation increases the size of farms. Severe drought is adding to a hollowing of society underway for decades in rural Australia, first triggered by falling commodity prices and farm incomes and by the lure of city life for young people.
