The RUF is a force of over ten thousand rebel fighters, most of whom have yet to disarm, and have apparently taken hostage of over four hundred UN soldiers and personnel in rebel strongholds throughout the country. The RUF have been accused by human rights groups with some of the worst crimes against humanity since the Rwandan genocide.
