A fire broke out near the nuclear plant in northern Germany on Thursday but police said the reactor was unaffected. Vattenfall Europe, the main operator of the 1,316-megawatt Kruemmel reactor near Hamburg, said both it and the 806-megawatt Brunsbuettel plant had been disconnected from the power grid as a precaution.
