Copper Mine Protests - 14 Mar 2013
Recent and archive images relating to protests against a copper mine project in Myanmar. People whose land was seized to allow the expansion of a copper mine in northwestern Myanmar, prompting protests that were crushed by police, should be compensated before the project goes ahead, according to an official report published on Tuesday.

The heavy-handed raids on protesters called into question the sincerity of Myanmar's reforms, kicked off in 2011 by a quasi-civilian government that replaced a military regime that had run the country for half a century.
