A picture of a Pashto cinema actress is pasted on a cover of a strip during a projection of an old Pashto movie at Arshad cinema in Peshawar May 27, 2013. Pashto cinema, or Pollywood, which once made its home in Peshawar, is now confined to a handful of theatres that haven't been attacked by Islamists. The Taliban banned cinema and music during their five-year rule in neighbouring Afghanistan, deeming them un-Islamic, and insisted that women wear all-enveloping burqas. The Pakistani Taliban are just as strict and in Pashto cinema, where there is no sex or even kissing and only a bit of midriff on show, all their rules are broken. Picture taken May 27, 2013. An injured Vietnam War veteran scuffles with South Korean police during an anti-Japan rally in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul May 23, 2013. The rally was held to denounce Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and demand an official apology for Japan's war crimes during World War Two. Protesters also condemned controversial comments by Toru Hashimoto, the mayor of the Japanese city of Osaka, who said last week that Japan's military brothels during World War Two were "necessary" to provide respite for soldiers, said organisers. A man ascends by bungee cords into a large former well during a traditional ceremony in the village of Ndande, May 19, 2013. Every year, inhabitants of the village take part in a Sufi Muslim ceremony called Gamou-Ndande. The ceremony combines nights of praying and chanting as well as traditionally animist ceremonies. The well, called Kalom, was the site of historic battles in Senegalese history. According to local historian Baye Niass, the well dates back to the 16th century. Today there is no water in the former well and it is used for ceremonial purposes. Niass says the well measures 36m in depth and 11m in diameter. Picture taken May 19, 2013.
