Relief worker Adienne Ledden prepares two puppies, who had nearly died before being rescued from Hurricane Katrina's flooding in New Orleans, for evacuation from the Morgan City Veterinary Hospital in Morgan City, approximately 96 km (60 miles) west of New Orleans in Louisiana September 22, 2005. Ledden was evacuating the animals to Albuquerque New Mexico ahead of Hurricane Rita's landfall. Louisiana residents were warned not to forget the lessons of Hurricane Katrina and head to higher ground on Thursday, as Rita was poised to be the second hurricane to lash the state in less than a month.
