A FORMER FEMALE CHILD SOLDIER AT A CENTER FOR CHILDREN AT LIRA IN UGANDA.
Evylyn Achora, 23, a former female child soldier cradles her two children Sunday Ayienyo, 4, and eight-month-old Dabiet Achier at Lira centre for children who have escaped from Uganda's rebel Lord's Resistance Army, which has waged a 17-year-old insurgency against the government. The two infants were born during her time in the LRA, which abducts children and teenagers from villages in north Uganda and uses them as soldiers, cooks and sex slaves. The group disciplines them by manipulating their belief in spirits and traumatizing them, through torture and killings, into robotic obedience.
