Italian skipper Giovanni Soldini speaks during a March 3 news conference beside his French colleague Isabel Autissier, whom he rescued near Cape Horn. Autissier said she was grateful for the rescue, but Soldini answered that any real sailor would do the same. The Italian won the 5,960 mile third leg of the Around Alone Race 1998-99, which will finish in Charleston in May after a 27,000 mile odyssey.
