-PHOTO TAKEN 19DEC04- A Cuban boy shows his pigeon at a plaza in Havana, December 19, 2004. A big-time sport of Cuban men and boys is pigeon-catching, which consists in making a tame bird to coo loudly to attract the wild ones or to make it fly about in a circle. Generally the wild pigeon flies into a cage through a large opening and a well-trained pigeon, once the wild one enters the cage, flies to the top of the cage and hovers over the wild pigeon to keep it from escaping. Part of this sport is also trying to attract an already trained pigeon and make the original owner buy it back. PICTURE TAKEN DECEMBER 19.

Young boy on the roof of a damaged house at the Beit Hanoun refugee camp in Northern Gaza Strip holds a white pigeon injured during an Israel army incursion March 27, 2003. [An Israeli helicopter fired two missiles at a Palestinian police post in the northern Gaza Strip before dawn on Thursday, Palestinian security sources said. An Israeli military source said troops conducted "an operation against terrorist infrastructure" near the town of Beit Hanoun, close to the border fence with Israel, and returned fire after they were shot at. Israel has frequently attacked targets in the Beit Hanoun area, saying it aimed to prevent Islamic militants from firing homemade "Qassam" rockets on nearby Israeli communities across the border fence. ]
