Tourists snorkel at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh
Tourists snorkel at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh November 9, 2015. Tourism in Sharm al-Sheikh was picking up again after years of political turmoil, with so many Russians enjoying the sun and fun that local beach aerobics instructors used the visitors' own language rather than Arabic or English. Life was at last starting to look good for residents of the Red Sea resort, but that was before an airliner taking Russian tourists home broke up over the Sinai Peninsula, where Islamic State militants suspected of planting a bomb on the plane are waging an insurgency. Now the future looks grim for thousands of Egyptians, from taxi drivers to diving instructors, who flocked to Sharm al-Sheikh to find jobs. One tour company official predicted holidays might now have to be discounted by up to 50 percent. To match EGYPT-CRASH/TOURISM REUTERS/Asmaa Waguih

Snorkelers interact with a Florida Manatee inside of the Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River, Florida January 15, 2015. On winter days, Florida manatees flock by the hundreds to the balmy waters of Three Sisters Springs, drawing crowds of snorkelers and kayakers to the U.S. sanctuary, where people may swim with the endangered species. But as tolerant as the gentle, whiskered sea giants can be of the accidental kicks and splashes of delighted tourists, wild life regulators want to ban most canoes and paddle boards and create people-free zones to protect the wintering "sea cow." Proposed limitations for this winter are awaiting approval by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Picture taken January 15, 2015. A fisherman lifts up a net of sea cucumbers to his boat at the sea off Sinabang district at Simeulue Island, Indonesia's Aceh province January 11, 2012. A group of fishermen, using a wooden boat and an air compressor, hunt for sea cucumbers and lobsters. They earn between 600,000 rupiah ($65) and one million rupiah ($109) a day. After the sea cucumbers are processed, they are first sent to Medan, capital of North Sumatra province, and then exported to Singapore and China. Many youths in Simeulue Island turn to the profession of a sea cucumber hunter with its rising demand. Sea cucumber is popular in many Asian countries as a delicacy and for its medicinal purpose. Angie Gyllenhammer swims with month old orphan killer whale Pascuala (R) and a dolphin at the Vallarta Adventure park in Nuevo Vallarta in Mexico's western state of Nayarit May 17, 2007. Pascuala was found when she was only days old stranded on a beach 100km (62 miles) north of Nuevo Vallarta and brought it to the park to be looked after. Pascuala is the first recorded case of a killer whale born in the wild to be cared for by humans. The owners of the park hope to send Pascuala to a much larger aquarium so she can be cared for and live in the company of other killer whales. REUTERS/Andrew Winning (MEXICO)
