A CHINESE CYCLIST PASSES BY AN ANTI-FALUN GONG SLOGAN IN BEIJNG.
A Chinese cyclist passes by an anti-falun Gong slogan at a "Hutong", or alleyway, in Beijing February 27, 2001. China, defending its crackdown on the outlawed Falun Gong spiritual movement from intensifying fire from the United States and the United Nations, compared its campaign on Tuesday with a war against drug addiction. "The Falun Gong cult is the same as a spiritual drug," Liu Jing, head of a new cabinet anti-cult office, told a news conference. The Chinese characters on the backboard read "Falun Gong cult".
