FILIPINO WOMEN PROTESTERS WITH CHAINS BINDING THEIR HANDS.
Filipino women protesters, with chained hands, to symbolise their being
captive to poverty and other deprivations, are blocked by anti-riot
policemen during a protest outside the presidential palace in Manila
March 8, 2002 in counjunction with International Women's Day. The
protesters also called the attention of President Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo's administration for its failure to their needs such as wage
increase and housing., They said these economic deprivations have
forced thousands of women to sell themselves in the sex trade.
