A man walks past Republican graffiti in the Bogside area of Londonderry in Northern Ireland, September 25, 2015. When Northern Ireland leaders this month warned of the imminent collapse of the power-sharing government that helped end decades of sectarian killings, the reaction on the streets of Belfast was apathy not panic. After almost two years of perpetual crisis there is a growing exasperation at the pro-British Protestants and Catholic Irish nationalists who have called in international mediators to solve a Cabinet dispute for the third time in three years. Frustration has shown up in voter turnout, which has fallen from the highest of the United Kingdom's four nations in general elections in the 2000s to the lowest at the last two votes. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi waves to a crowd gathered outside following a news conference in Oslo December 9, 2014. Apathy is the biggest obstacle to eliminating forced child labor and the world needs more secular education to reduce intolerance, Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi said on Tuesday. In Oslo, where he will receive the award on Wednesday, Satyarthi told Reuters the problem was not religion itself but people who hide behind it for economic and political gain. A pro-Russian armed man allows a local boy to hold a machine gun, while standing guard outside the mayor's office in Slaviansk, April 20, 2014. Pro-Russian authorities in eastern Ukraine presented identity documents, maps and a business card to support their view that Ukrainian far-right nationalists had carried out a deadly attack early on Sunday.
The nationalists and authorities in Kiev said it was a staged display to conceal the hand of Russian secret services in the gunfight, in which at least three people were killed. REUTERS/Gleb Garanich (UKRAINE - Tags: POLITICS CIVIL UNREST)

Men rest after salvaging metal on the 30th floor of the "Tower of David" skyscraper in Caracas
Men rest after salvaging metal on the 30th floor of the "Tower of David" skyscraper in Caracas February 3, 2014. It boasts a helicopter landing pad, glorious views of the Avila mountain range, and large balconies for weekend barbecues. Yet a 45-storey skyscraper in the center of Venezuela's capital Caracas is no five-star hotel or swanky apartment block: it is a slum, probably the highest in the world. Dubbed the "Tower of David", the building was intended to be a shining new financial center but was abandoned around 1994 after the death of its developer - banker and horse-breeder David Brillembourg - and the collapse of the financial sector. Squatters invaded the huge concrete skeleton in 2007, then-president Hugo Chavez's socialist government turned a blind eye, and now about 3,000 people call the tower their home. A man takes a shower as policemen patrol during an operation at the Mare slums complex in Rio de Janeiro, March 30, 2014. Federal troops and police occupied the Mare slums complex on Sunday to help quell a surge in violent crime following attacks by drug traffickers on police posts in three slums on the north side of the city, government officials said. Less than three months before Rio welcomes tens of thousands of foreign soccer fans for the World Cup, the attacks cast new doubts on government efforts to expel gangs from slums using a strong police presence. The city will host the Olympics in 2016. REUTERS/Ricardo Moraes (BRAZIL - Tags: CRIME LAW SOCIETY SPORT SOCCER)
