A police handout photograph from March 1, 2002, shows a package containing caustic soda disguised as aromatherapy samples sent to the residence at 10 Downing Street [of Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair], March 2, 2002. British police said on Friday packages containing caustic soda disguised as eucalyptus aromatherapy samples had been sent to the offices of a number of politicians, [including Prime Minister Blair]. Security screening at Downing Street discovered the corrosive chemical -- most commonly used for cleaning drains -- after detectives received a warning from a little-known group of militant Scottish separatists, the Scottish National Liberation Army (SNLA), dubbed the "tartan terrorists".

Roan, a Syrian bear, relaxes with a morning dip in his enclosure at the Melbourne Zoo August 13. The bear had just taken part in a trial where keepers applied aromatherapy oils in a bid to stimulate his environment. Other animals have reacted favourably to the treatment with responses ranging from curiosity, excitement, playfulness and even an amourous reaction. According to keepers, lavender and peppermint scents are popular and camomile nicknamed "the love potion".
