An anteater rests in a bathroom sink while receiving treatment at veterinarian of the state environmental police Marcelo Andreani's house, near Porto Velho, Rondonia State, Brazil, August 19, 2020. The anteater arrived with a broken left paw after a clash with a fierce porcupine. The patient had been found hiding in a garage and, again, the vets think it might have been fleeing fires as anteaters rarely turn up in the city. The fracture required surgery. Under anaesthetic, a giant tongue rolled out of the anteater's mouth, earning it the affectionate nickname Linguaruda, or Long-tongue. After surgery, one of the vets took Linguaruda home to keep a closer eye on her recovery. At one point, she climbed into the bathroom sink to rest. In five days, Linguaruda was strong enough to return to the wild - the best outcome her rescuers could wish for. REUTERS/Ueslei Marcelino SEARCH "BRAZIL ANIMALS" FOR THIS STORY. The Wider Image: Indians build their own lockdown barricades in the country's slums
In homes that are cramped, stuffy and increasingly low on food, residents of Mumbai's huge Dharavi slum are struggling under India's nationwide lockdown. In Dharavi, where an estimated one million people live, residents are stretching out meals and relying on donations. But anxiety has been building since the lockdown began on March 25. Dharavi, believed to be Asia's largest slum, is a tough place to be confined, and also one of the most vulnerable to the new coronavirus because of the density of its population and poor sanitation. Hundreds of people sometimes share the same bathroom. Access to clean water is not guaranteed. Soap has become a luxury. Dharavi has 71 reported cases so far, but experts fear that number will accelerate higher.REUTERS/Francis Mascarenhas SEARCH "CORONAVIRUS MUMBAI SLUM" FOR THIS STORY.
