Yazidi female fighter Asema Dahir, 21, poses with a teddy bear in a bedroom at a site near the frontline of the fight against Islamic State militants in Nawaran near Mosul, Iraq, April 20, 2016. When Islamic State swept into the northern Iraqi town of Sinjar in 2014, a few young Yazidi women took up arms against the militants attacking women and girls from their community. The killing and enslaving of thousands from Iraq's minority Yazidi community focused international attention on the group's violent campaign to impose its radical ideology and prompted Washington to launch an air offensive. It also prompted the formation of this unusual 30-woman unit made up of Yazidis as well as Kurds from Iraq and neighbouring Syria. For them, only one thing matters: revenge for the women raped, beaten and executed by the jihadist militants. REUTERS/Ahmed Jadallah SEARCH "WOMEN NAWARAN" FOR THIS STORY. A view shows the windows of an apartment where Fabien Clain, identified as the voice in an audio recording claiming responsibility for the Paris attacks, grew up in Alencon, France, November 25, 2015. The voice claiming Islamic State's responsibility for the deadly Paris attacks is known to many in the small French provincial town of Alencon. To family, Fabien Clain was a "big teddy bear", to neighbours he was polite, and at the local mosque, he was a fellow worshipper who came to pray. To the authorities, he was a veteran jihadhi jailed in the past for recruiting militant fighters and believed to have fled to Syria this year, and who may have played a wider role in the Nov. 13 violence, the worst in France since World War Two. A postbox from the British colonial era, which bears a royal insignia of King George V, is seen outside a seafood restaurant at the fishing village of Lei Yue Mun in Hong Kong, China, October 15, 2015. Hongkong Post has decided to cover up the royal insignia on existing mailboxes from Hong Kong’s colonial years, before the territory reverted to Chinese sovereignty in 1997, saying that the crown logo was considered “inappropriate. Conservationists said the plan to cover up the royal cyphers on 59 post boxes was the latest government attack on the city’s heritage and identity, local media reported. Passersby glance at a streamer bearing the names of three human rights activists, during a protest in Manila September 23, 2015. The United Nations on Tuesday called on the Philippine government to investigate immediately the killings of the three human rights activists on a southern island affected by long-running armed conflict. Philippine-based human rights groups said the military occupied the school after the killings and restricted movements of about 2,000 indigenous people, who were forced to flee to the town centre. The military has denied any links with the armed group behind the attack, claiming the killings were carried out by a rival tribe as part of a clan war. REUTERS/Romeo Ranoco
