RUSSIAN SHARE TRADERS TRADE AT MOSCOW'S RUSSIAN EXCHANGE
Russian share traders trade at Moscow's Russian Exchange, October 18. The dealer in front holds a card which says rouble -- his codename which he flashes when he wants to execute a trade. Russian markets have shrugged off President Boris Yeltsin's dramatic sacking of security chief Alexander Lebed, an event which could still have a big impact on Moscow politics. Friday's modest rise in equity prices confounded forecasts that the removal of tough-talking Lebed would push the market down. But Russia's new blue chips are still below the record highs set before Yeltsin's July re-election, and investors are jittery about his upcoming heart bypass surgery.
