A man carries a bunch of snake gourd at a main market in Colombo May 24, 2011. Sri Lanka plans to introduce a new inflation index from June to reflect the latest consumption and economic pattern, the state-run Department of Census and Statistics said on Monday. The weights for food items under the new index has been reduced to 41.05 percent from 46.71 percent, while the weight on housing, water, electricity, and gas has increased to 23.74 percent from 18.29 percent, the data seen by Reuters showed.
