The Wider Image: Hong Kong refugee football team kicks up hope
Twice a week, a group of mostly African asylum-seekers gathers on a soccer pitch in Hong Kong and trains for its next match against a local side. The team, All Black FC, is the first of its kind in the former British colony and offers a rare opportunity for refugees from more than 10 mostly African countries to integrate with residents. "As I'm playing football, I feel so excited. I feel happy," said Solomon, 26. The team was set up a year ago by expatriate Medard Koya, a soccer coach from the Central African Republic. He noticed his refugee friends struggling to assimilate into Hong Kong society and thought the beautiful game could serve as a common language to help bridge the gap. Lowell, UNITED STATES
2016: A Picture and its Story
Robin Roy (C) reacts as U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump greets her at a campaign rally in Lowell, Massachusetts January 4, 2016. Brian Snyder: 'To some, it was as if she had met a celebrity rock star. To others, this woman looked pretty terrified. In fact Robin Roy is one very eager supporter of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Wearing a t-shirt reading "Obama, You're Fired. Vote Trump 2016," she had waited for a chance to meet Trump in person at the rally. Then the New York real-estate mogul and reality TV star shook her hand and talked to her. Excited would be an understatement. All candidates with their eye on the White House greet supporters along the "rope-line" at the end of events like these. ItÕs a chance for voters to shake the hand of the candidates or pose for a selfie. The other people in the photo are also supporters, including Roy's daughter on her left. Photographers are fairly restricted by the campaign during Trump events. Most images are taken from the main podium, at the back of the hall across from the main stage, with long lenses (400mm). After the speech, a small group of photographers were escorted to the stage to document Trump making his way along the rope-line. I took this photo with a shorter lens (50mm) from the stage looking over TrumpÕs shoulder. The fact that every day is unique is one of the truly fun parts of this job. Roy remained an unwavering Trump supporter throughout the campaign. "We realised that Trump was one of us and he didn't hide that fact. Is he perfect? No, but he sincerely seems to care about the people. He doesn't talk down to us or make himself seen better." Nearly a year after her meeting with Trump, and awaiting the beginning of the Trump presidency, she says: "I hope he comes through with most of his promises and brings this country together to stop the political nonsense."' 2016 Rio Olympics: Shooting Olympic history
Britain's Mo Farah reacts as he wins the men's 5000m final at the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Britain August 11, 2012. Lucy Nicholson: "When Mo Farah was rounding the final corner for the 5000m the huge stadium was electric, everybody was on their feet and he knew he was going to win as he came into that final stretch. All the photographers were excited because we knew he was going to react in a very dramatic way so it was a lovely sequence of photos as he crossed the finish line - he put his hands over his head, he wrapped himself in the British flag, it was a very long celebration sequence, which is all you can really wish for as a photographer." Only 2.4 percent of U.S. electricians were women in 2014, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Hannah said: "Growing up in my society I was constantly aware or told, whether it was straight out or implied, what women canÕt do, and what a womanÕs place is, and how a woman should behave, and what a woman is capable of, whether itÕs intellectually or physically... I feel like [a woman president] would chip away at that in the psyche of the next generation." Kelly said: "You have to have thick skin to be anyone in the trade, to be a woman in the trade you have to have a particularly thick skin... I think that one of the reasons we donÕt have enough women in the trade is because there just arenÕt enough women role models and having a woman president would be exciting. It should be normal that a woman can be leader of the country." Picture taken June 22, 2016. REUTERS/Lucy Nicholson SEARCH "WOMEN WORKERS" FOR THIS STORY. SEARCH "THE WIDER IMAGE" FOR ALL STORIES

Cuban migrant Halena Leiva, 31, who ran out of money, works as a cleaning lady in an auto store in Paso Canoas on the border with Costa Rica March 22, 2016. "I am a qualified IT engineer. If I hadn't left Cuba I would have ended up in prison as I love freedom and having options. I don't like the Cuban system. I am not the kind of person to confront the government. That's why I joined this mass migration as all of us want a change. I believe this is a symbol of protest. I am really excited to get to Las Vegas in the U.S. where my brother lives. One of my dreams is to study gastronomy and have my own business. I can travel the world. A Picture and its Story: A selfie with the pope
Reuters photographer Max Rossi takes a selfie photograph with Pope Francis while flying over the Atlantic Ocean February 12, 2016. Reuters Photographer Max Rossi: "It's not every day you get a selfie with the pope. I took this photo high above the Atlantic en route to Mexico. I asked Pope Francis to have a selfie with me for my family. My argument was simple: it's common to see people asking for a selfie with him. To my delight, he said yes. People around me congratulated me. Comments from my colleagues about this selfie were all pleasant although some regretted not having asked the same question. The contact between Francis and the press is very gracious. I have also travelled with Pope Benedict and John Paul II: three popes with very different attitudes and personalities but each one an incredible person. This trip has been particularly demanding. We usually wake up around 4 a.m. and get back to our hotel about 9 p.m. An assignment like this is really hard, not least as we carry a lot of gear all day. Even so it's very exciting and the effort is worth it. The pictures you take are important. A sense of occasion is everywhere too, that gives you energy. People in Mexico are very excited, you can feel their devotion. Everyone tries to get a selfie or at least a photo to commemorate his visit. Mexican clergy have got in on the act, taking pictures as the pope prayed in front of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City." Picture taken February 12, 2016. A Picture and Its Story: The Stuntman's Story
Stuntman Daniel Bargueno Morilla, 26, flies through the air following an explosion during the filming of the Koldo Serra directed feature film Gernika in Guernica, Spain in this June 17, 2015 file photo. Morilla has been working as a stuntman since the age of 16, he tells his story here:

It started with me doing acrobatics training in a gym. Then after doing a trial for Ignacio Carreno, who’s been my boss ever since, I was off. What’s it like being a stuntman? I love it. I have been a bit frightened occasionally but that’s what I enjoy. I’ve got nervous now and again. When I've finished a stunt I feel even better for having done a risky job and for having done it well. I know I’ve been lucky. The only accident I’ve had during work was when I fell down some stairs and twisted my ankle, putting me out of action for a week. As for this photo, when it comes to jumping from ramps, I don’t need to do much training. I’ve been doing it for years. Backward and forward somersaults, pirouettes, they’ve become second nature to me. I prepare for the scene, do all the rehearsals, then off I go. The night before a stunt I don’t sleep because of the excitement. It’s the best thing ever. REUTERS/Vincent West
