Dave Cowdrey reacts to a friendly peck from "Scruffy" the baby sparrow at his home in Otaki January 18. Scruffy pecked Cowdrey in the eye several days ago, piercing the outer film of his eyeball, temporarily affecting his sight which required treatment from an eye specialist. Cowdrey rescued the baby sparrow and a sibling after their mother was eaten by a cat.
