A woman holds a fan made out of cardboard, featuring a photograph of Pope Francis in Holguin, Cuba, September 21, 2015. On a special anniversary for him, Pope Francis celebrated Mass in east Cuba on Monday on the last full day of a trip where he has been praised for aiding rapprochement between the communist government and the United States. Two predecessors have visited Cuba, but Francis was the first pope to visit Holguin, capital of the province where the Castro brothers and leaders of Cuba, Fidel and Raul, grew up. He said a Mass for tens of thousands of people in sweltering heat. September 21 was the day in 1953 when the Argentine pope said he first felt a calling from God. A woman fans herself while riding in a taxi in Havana, Cuba September 19, 2015. The Obama administration announced wide-ranging new rules on Friday to ease trade, travel and investment restrictions with Cuba, the latest effort to chip away at the long-standing U.S. economic embargo amid a diplomatic thaw between the two former Cold War foes. The announcement came just as Pope Francis, who played an instrumental role in the diplomatic opening late last year, prepares to visit Cuba this weekend before heading to the United States next week. Seminarists, one of them carrying a fan with an image of Pope Francis and a message reading "Welcome to Cuba", rehearse for next Sunday's public Mass, celebrated by Pope Francis, at the Revolution Square, in Havana, September 17, 2015. Pope Francis is due for a three-night visit to Cuba, starting on Saturday. Catholicism is flourishing again in the former Spanish colony. As the church is gradually expanding its role and influence it still faces numerous challenges, notably low attendance, a lack of interest among youth and competition from Afro-Cuban religions that accept widely varying degrees of Catholic dogma. His air purifier kits, costing just 200RMB ($32) compared to top-of-the-line purifiers that cost up to $8,000, according to organizers, provide a low-cost solution to China's air pollution problem.
