Yilcim was born in England, his parents are from Ireland and Cyprus. He said: "England is a disgrace in the way the government look after old people. In this job I've learnt a real respect for old people. They should be looked after much better." Brent, a northwest London neighbourhood that's home to Wembley football stadium, is among the most ethnically diverse areas in the United Kingdom. Youths sit outside a fish and chip shop in the town of Lerwick on the Shetland Islands April 3, 2014. Twelve hours by ferry from the Scottish mainland, hundreds of miles from Edinburgh and closer to Oslo than London, the windswept Shetland islands have their own aspirations about Scottish independence. Some of the 23,000 inhabitants even want their own. Many Shetlanders see the Sept. 18 vote on whether Scotland should end the 307-year-old union with England as an opportunity to gain control over local services and a share of revenues from the oil pumped from the North Sea. Youths wait for fish and chips at a local chip shop in Scarborough, northern England February 27, 2013. Scarborough is not far from Whitby, once a busy fishing port, is now a shadow of its former self. Only 200 people are now employed in fishing, and the fleet is down to just a few boats. Global warming has expanded fish habitats northwards, with fish stocks sometimes disappearing for weeks on end. Boats return from sea with largely empty nets, and the atmosphere is sour. Often schools of fish then reappear unpredictably, resulting in bumper catches and causing much jubilation - but then E.U. quotas kick in and force fishermen to dump excess catch in the sea to avoid hefty E.U. fines. Britain's opposition Conservative Party leader David Cameron, on a non-stop 24 hour election campaigning tour, visits a fish and chip shop in the village of Long Town in Cumbria May 4, 2010. Britain's party leaders campaigned around the clock on Tuesday in a final push for votes, two days before a parliamentary election that opinion polls suggest could redraw the political map. Prime Minister Gordon Brown hinted that he could step aside if his Labour Party fails to win a fourth consecutive election on Thursday, as most polls suggest. Picture taken May 4, 2010.
