Weatherly restored the Thunderbird, which was owned by George Thomas of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This 1956 Ford Thunderbird convertible, once owned by Frank Sinatra, sits on the auction block at the 28th annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car auction January 23. The car was put up for auction by its current owner, lawyer George Thomas of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After a bidding war between two men starting at $125,000 a Connecticut man won by bidding $152,000. The car had only three owners, including Sinatra, prior to being put up for auction.

In addition to killing off the current Thunderbird and Cougar mid-size coupes, Ford said it will discontinue the Probe sport coupe and the Aerostar minivan this summer.

The number 5 car is the Chevrolet of Terry Labonte, who finished second, and the number 88 is the Ford of Dale Jarrett.
