Germany's highestcourt ruled on Tuesday that cuts to a tax break for commuters introduced last year are unconstitutional, dealing a blow to the finance ministry which has to repay its extra revenues.The government stands to lose 7.5 billion euros in tax revenues for the 2007-2009 period as a result of the ruling and Steinbrueck said next year's federal and state budgets would be hit.

Malaysia's riot police prepare in front of the highcourt in the early hours of August 8, 2000, before the judge gives the the verdict of the sodomy trial of jailed politician Anwar Ibrahim, in Kuala Lumpur. The ex-finance minister and deputy prime minister on Tuesday will listen to the high court judge whether he is guilty or innocent on a sodomy charge. He faces up to 20 years in jail and a whipping if found guilty. Anwar is currently serving a six-year jail term for abuse of power.

Pakistani police stops supporters of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto after they scaled the main gates of Sind provincial highcourt August 20. The local administration has taken strict security measures at the courts following the Tuesday's incidents in which Bhutto supporters pelted eggs and tomatoes at Pakistan's Attorney General after he came out of the court on hearing of a petition filed by Bhutto challenging his authority to communicate with the Swiss officials probing Bhutto's ill-gotten wealth.
