Cyclists pass beneath the downtown skyline on the hike and bike trail on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas September 18, 2012. The 10.1 mile trail runs along the Colorado river through downtown. In Austin, flip-flop-wearing University of Texas students mingle with coat-tie-and-boot-clad state lawmakers and technology workers in jeans. The Lone Star State capital prides itself on its slacker vibe, but it's also the place where a college student named Michael Dell once started a computer business and where Whole Foods Market started and has its headquarters. A riot policeman with his boot in flames, confronts a demonstrator after Molotov cocktails were thrown during anti-austerity protests in Athens, June 15, 2011. Tens of thousands of grassroot activists and unionists converged on Athens' central Syntagma (Constitution) Square Wednesday as Prime Minister George Papandreou prepared to push through a new five-year campaign of tax hikes, spending cuts and selloffs of state property to continue receiving aid from the European Union and International Monetary Fund and avoid default. PHILIPPINE POLICEMEN IN COMBAT UNIFORM REST BESIDE A WATERFALL.
Philippine policemen in combat uniform rest beside a waterfall as they trek up Mount Pinatubo volcano in northern Philippines April 6. About 500 policemen from northern Philippines hiked for more than eight hours to the Mount Pinatubo Volcano as part of the exercise programme by the Philippine National Police aimed at ridding the ranks of overweight officers in the country. The Philippine National Police (PNP) adopted the programme to improve the image of police officers, which has been tarnished by prominent cases of corruption. It requires policemen to have a maximum waistline of 34 inches within six months, or they would be booted out of the service.
