Chung Hoon, then a commander of the USS Sigsbee won the Navy Cross and Silver Star for the destruction of 20 enemy planes near Japan and battle duty against a Japanese Kamikaze hit with simultaneous plane strikes in Okinawa. Members of the Halau Hula Olana (Hula School) of Pearl City shake their
"uli uli" before marching in the Aloha Festivals Floral Parade
Saturday, September, 13, 2003 in Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu. The
Uli uli is a rattle made of gourds, containing seeds with colored
feathers on top used for hula. Twenty-three young girls represented
their hula school along with marching bands, floats and princesses
representing each of the major islands in the Hawaii. The festival
continues tomorrow as a showcase of Hawaii with music, dance and
history on many locations throughout Hawaii and is intended to
celebrate the islands traditions and culture. Hawaii has 6.95 million
visitors a year and tourist numbers have only recently started to
rebound since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Aiea which is composed of 23 girls with ages ranging from 7 through 13.
The festival continues tomorrow as a showcase of Hawaii with music,
