Twin sisters wearing identical tights lie on a balance beam as they watch other children practice during gymnastics lessons at the Shanghai Yangpu Youth Amateur Athletic School in Shanghai, China, May 4, 2016. China's sports system has been enormously successful since the country returned to the Olympic fold in 1980, culminating with the host nation topping the medals' table at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. And yet, with the Rio de Janeiro Games less than three months away, the system is beginning to break down due to the shifting demographics of a more prosperous nation. Some schools have closed and others are adjusting the way they work. Some, like the Shanghai Yangpu Youth Amateur Athletic School, are going into kindergartens to advertise gymnastics as an after-school play time activity to parents. "We call it happy gymnastics," said principal Zhu Zengxiang. REUTERS/Aly Song SEARCH "CHINA OLYMPIC SCHOOL" FOR THIS STORY. SEARCH "THE WIDER IMAGE" FOR ALL STORIES

Twins Almedina (L) and Ajla Djulic pose for a portrait in a primary school in Buzim April 10, 2015. Nedzib Vucelj, a former teacher and journalist, has launched an initiative to declare Buzim the "Town of Twins". Investigating the phenomenon, he discovered that at least 21 sets of twins had been born in the town of 20,000 people during the 1992-95 war. There may be many more, given the rate of migration due to poverty and unemployment. Local officials have leapt on the initiative, hoping to attract visitors to the picturesque town in northwest Bosnia. Picture taken on April 10. Professional stuntman Eddie Braun reacts as the steam power rocket named 'The Evel Spirit' is tested along the edge of the Snake River Canyon outside Twin Falls, Idaho, September 9, 2014. In homage to Evel Knievel, professional stuntman Eddie Braun is preparing to attempt jump approximately 1,800 feet across the Snake River Canyon in a replica of Skycycle X-2, a steam-powered rocket Knievel used in 1974. Misa Morimoto, the 50-year-old identical younger twin of Miho Yamamoto, shows a photograph of Miho and herself wearing traditional Japanese clothes known as Kimono taken to celebrate their 20th birthdays in 1984, during an interview with Reuters in Otsuki city, Yamanashi prefecture, July 15, 2014. Morimoto spoke to no one for 18 years about her identical twin sister who vanished when they were 20, not even to her own children. On the rare occasions when asked, she lied and said her sister was studying overseas. But slowly the pain of uncertainty about her sister's fate was replaced by suspicion of the unthinkable - that her twin, Miho, an energetic girl who liked hiking with her and striking silly poses for the camera, was abducted by North Korea. Misa Morimoto, the 50-year-old identical younger twin of Miho Yamamoto, cries as she speaks during an interview with Reuters in Otsuki city, Yamanashi prefecture, July 15, 2014. Spanish nurses Maria Jose Marin (C), 23, holds up a towel as she stands next to her twin sister Maria Teresa (R) in a supermarket in The Hague, June 7, 2013. After months of studying Dutch, a group of young Spanish nurses moved to the Netherlands to take up work, fleeing a dismal job market at home. Spain's population dropped last year for the first time on record as young professionals and immigrants who moved here during a construction boom head for greener pastures. Spain's jobless rate is 27 percent, and more than half of young workers are unemployed. For Spanish nurses, the Netherlands' nursing deficit is a boon. Picture taken June 7, 2013.
