FILE PHOTO OF OSAMA BIN LADEN.
FILE PHOTO 26MAY98 - Exiled Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden has called on Moslems to attack U.S. and British citizens and interests to avenge the two countries' air strikes on Iraq, an Arabic-language newspaper reported December 25. The London-based daily Asharq al-Awsat quoted bin Laden as also threatening Israelis and calling in an interview for a fight against "the Jews and the crusaders, especially the Americans and British, who did not care about the rights of any child, elderly man or woman in Iraq." Bin Laden, a militant Islamist, reiterated denials that he was involved in the bombings of American embassies in Africa, but he expressed support for those behind the attacks "and whoever carries out military actions against American forces," the newspaper said. Bin Laden is shown in this file photograph while addressing a news conference in Afghanistan on May 26.
