Thai University student Watchara Daramart, 23, uses a video game joystick and a personal computer to aim a fake pistol at his colleague Nares Paotongkum (L) using a camera and laser pointer fixed to the weapon in Bangkok August 16, 2000. The "Intelligent Roboguard" was designed by the University students using off-the-shelf miniature motors and other cheap technology to illustrate how the internet may be used in the future to remotely monitor people's homes and assest, with the added benefit of being able to fire a weapon to guard against theft or intrusion. The technology could also be harnessed for use in military applications.
