A worker collects latex from a rubber tree in Kampong Cham province October 23, 2012. Cambodia's transformation from war-torn basket-case to one of Asia's most promising emerging economies is being overshadowed by a backwards lurch in human rights and land policies that critics say are entrenching poverty. CAMBODIAN CHILDREN PLAY IN MEKONG RIVER.
Cambodian children play in the Mekong River in Kompong Cham city, northeast of the capital Phnom Penh July 20. Heavy rains which started in early July have caused the river to swell to its highest level in 40 years. If it rises a mere 0.2 metres higher, the whole city of Kampong Cham will be under water, according to Cambodian Red Cross. Thousands of people have been displaced and tens of thousands of hectares (acres) of crops damaged by flooding.
