Afghan women learn how to play keyboard in the northern city of Mazar-i-Shariff
Afghan women learn how to play keyboard in the northern city of Mazar-i-Shariff August 15, 2006. All music was banned under the hardline Islamist Taliban regime ousted in 2001 and women were barred from schools, but this unique scheme is now bringing them out again. The $9,200 six-month programme, which eventually aims to be self-supporting, is being paid for by the United Nations and Afghan aid groups. REUTERS/Ahmad Masood (AFGHANISTAN)
