Planes of the two Bolivian airlines, Lloyd Aereo Boliviano (R) and Aerosur sit on the runway due to a one-day strike declared by the companies' executives, May 30. The airlines are protesting the Bolivian government's decision to grant permission to their Brazilian competitor, Transportes Aereos del Mercosur (TAM), to operate on some of their routes.

A Bolivian court ruled in favor of the airline's workers in an 18 million dollar lawsuit in which the workers claimed unpaid compensations when the Brazilian airline VASP became the principal shareholder three years ago. The court ordered the seizure of seven of the fleet's fifteen airplanes.

A Boeing 727 belonging to the Bolivian airline LAB (Lloyd Aereo Boliviano), is grounded at La Paz's El Alto airport July 29.
