Former police chief Pedro Garcia (R) and his defence lawyer Moises Galindo listen as Guatemalan Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu testifies at the Supreme Court in Guatemala City October 1, 2014. Menchu attended the trial of Garcia, who is accused of causing the deaths of 37 people in a fire at the Spanish Embassy at the height of the country's brutal civil war over thirty years ago. Garcia, who headed the country's police force from 1974 to 1982, is charged with ordering the massacre at the Spanish Embassy. In 1980, indigenous protesters and activists, among them Menchu's father, occupied the embassy to highlight atrocities committed during Guatemala's 36-year civil war.
