TURKISH SOLDIER STANDS NEXT TO GRAVES PREPARED FOR VICTIMS OF PLANE CRASH.
A Turkish soldier stands next to the newly prepared graves in a military cemetery in Ankara May 17, 2001. Graves were prepared for 34 soldiers who lost their lives in a Turkish military plane crash on May 16, 2001, near the southest Turkish city of Malatya. A CASA CN-235 light transportation plane was carrying Turkish special force members from Diyarbakir to Ankara. The funeral ceremony for 34 soldiers is to take place in Ankara on Friday, as military authorities continue to identify all the bodies.

Undated file photo shows a CASA CN-235 military aircraft similar to the one carrying 37 people crashed May 16, 2001, near a southeast Turkish city of Malatya, killing all on board, the military and police said. CASA planes, light transportation aircrafts, originally from Spain, are manufactured in Turkey. The plane was heading from the southeastern city of Diyarbakir to Ankara, carrying six crew and 31 passengers, largely middle-level military officers.
