Ten years after abandoning the U.S. market, Italian carmaker Maserati, now under the ownership of Fiat SpA, will return to the U.S. with the new Spyder two-seat convertible, seen in a photo released August 13, 2001, in the first quarter of next year, followed be the new GT coupe in the second quarter. The cars wearing Maserati's trident badge, will be unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show in September and the Detroit auto show in January. Fiat bought Maserati in 1993, and reorganized the company to put Maserati under Ferrari's control in 1997. Maserati will be sold through about 40 Ferrari dealerships in the United States.
