Palestinian flags fly before U.S. Jewish musician Matisyahu performs on stage during the Rototom Sunsplash festival in Benicassim, August 23, 2015. The Spanish reggae festival, bowing to an international outcry, on Wednesday reversed its decision to cancel an invitation to Matisyahu because he had failed to spell out his views on Palestinian statehood. The festival had asked the musician, who fuses reggae, hip-hop and rock with Jewish influences, to make a public statement about his views on Palestinians' right to their own state and withdrew the invitation when he did not respond. American Ultra-Orthodox Jewish rapper Matisyahu performs at a night club in Jerusalem, late December 8, 2005. The popular 26-year-old Hasidic singer raps in a brimmed hat and dark suit over reggae beats. Hip-hop music, which grew out of black inner cities, isn't typically associated with Jews, but as the genre has grown more popular, some Jewish artists have embraced it as their own, while transcending theological and ethnic differences.
