Aaron Spelling (C) joins members of the Southern Methodist University Cheerleading squad after he received the school's "Distinguished Alumni Award" October 8 in Beverly Hills, California. Spelling, the creator and producer of hit televsion shows such as "The Mod Squad," Beverly Hill 90210," "Melrose Place," and "The Love Boat," who graduated from SMU in 1949 was the first recepient to have the award presented outside of the school's home in Dallas, Texas. Spelling, in addition to his work as a playwright a the school, was also a member of the cheerleading sqaud.
