A VIETNAMESE VISITOR TOUCHES A DISPLAY AT THE MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY IN HANOI.
A Vietnamese visitor to the Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi April 21, 2001, touches a model display of a communal house of the Mnong Gar ethnic minority of northern Vietnam. Over the past years people of both Vietnamese and ethnic minority groups in the north have been relocated to the central highlands which has created discontent over land issues between migrants and settlers. The discontent erupted into widespread unrest involving thousands of local tribal people in February, the worse to hit the communist country for years.
