the Melbourne Cup to become only the 14th mare to win Australia's
richest and most famous horse race. Ridden perfectly by Glenn Boss, the
five-year-old Makybe Diva sprinted clear of the field in the final 200
metres to beat She's Archie by a length, with English raider Jardines
Lookout grabbing third in a photo finish with two other horses.
