The homepage of the Interpol website is seen through a magnifying glass in this picture illustration taken in Berlin, Germany June 3, 2015.
Interpol said on Wednesday it has issued international wanted-person alerts for two former FIFA officials including Jack Warner and four corporate executives at the request of U.S. authorities as part of a corruption probe. Interpol said it issued so-called red notices -- not an international arrest warrant -- for Warner, former President of CONCACAF, which governs football in North and Central America and the Caribbean, and Nicolas Leoz, the former head of South America's soccer federation. The others are Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis, who are among soccer officials and sports media and promotion executives hit with U.S. graft charges involving more than $150 million in bribes, and Jose Margulies, a Brazilian citizen who headed two offshore companies that were involved in the broadcasting of soccer matches. Mug shots of Cuba's President Fidel Castro hang on a wall inside the prison where Castro served 19 months as a young revolutionary in the mid-1950s in Isla de la Juventud November 16, 2006. On this island of 86,000 people off Cuba's south coast, residents wonder if the 80-year-old Fidel Castro is too ill to appear for a military parade in Havana on December 2. Most Cubans cannot see communism surviving the ailing Cuban President Fidel Castro, who has not appeared in public since undergoing surgery for an undisclosed illness that forced him to hand over the reins of power to his brother Raul in late July and their fears of upheaval are mixed with the hope of economic liberalization if not political change.
