Psychology students study outside the Competence and Trauma Centre for Journalists inside a university's psychology department in Peshawar November 24, 2014. Immersion in the extreme violence and daily threats mean many Pakistani journalists suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, health professionals said this week during the opening of the country's first trauma centre for journalists. The centre is supposed to help address Pakistan's massive shortfall of trained counsellors and help journalists deal with the psychological fallout of reporting bombings, militancy and drone strikes. Argentine choreographer and dancer Pau Vazquez set up Fusionarte dance group in 2007 in Madrid to introduce dance to people with special needs. The group, which is assisted by another three dance instructors, holds lessons every Saturday for an hour to teach around 20 adult men and women of varying intellectual disabilities to dance as a way to build up self-confidence and self-expression. The group does not receive any subsidies. Instead every member of the group contributes money to the studio rental for rehearsals, and pay for their costumes and props they use for their performances at charity galas. According to Vazquez, "Dance helps members of the group build their confidence and feel empowered. They express their emotions through the movement and learn to respect and admire what each individual is capable of doing". Picture taken April 20, 2013. Patients are locked in a room at a mental hospital in Banda Aceh
Patients are locked in a room at a mental hospital in Banda Aceh December 12, 2012. According to the hospital's staff, who take care of more than 700 patients, the number of people suffering from mental illness rose because of the province's long conflict, devastating 2004 tsunami, and also because of the use of narcotics. In deeply traditional society, people suffering from mental illnesses are often kept chained at home and treated with traditional medicines. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation, but nowhere is the faith more strictly interpreted than in Aceh, sometimes referred to as the "verandah of Mecca" because it was one of the first parts of the archipelago to turn to Islam. Aceh is Indonesia's only province to have implemented sharia, or Islamic laws. Picture taken December 12, 2012. REUTERS/Damir Sagolj (INDONESIA - Tags: CRIME LAW SOCIETY RELIGION)
