The poling site at a Ramada Inn next to Washington D.C.'s Capital Beltway is the only place for Iraqis living in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to vote. There are four other polling places - in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and Nashville. A distraught man (R) is comforted as he and several others arrive at the Ramada Plaza hotel at New York's JFK International Airport October 31, after the crash of an EgyptAir Boeing 767 that departed from JFK Airport in the early morning hours. The flight was bound for Cairo when it disappeared from radar screens some 60 miles off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Family members of the passengers from the flight were gathering at the Ramada Plaza.

An unidentified couple are escorted by police from the Ramada Plaza hotel near John F. Kennedy International Airport on September 3. Some relatives of victims of the Swissair crash are gathering at the hotel. The Swissair plane that crashed left JFK airport early in the evening of September 2 and crashed off the coast of Nova Scotia with 215 passengers and 14 crew members on board.
