Roadsigns felled by wind is seen after the passing of Hurricane Patricia in Melaque, Mexico October 24, 2015. Hurricane Patricia caused less damage than feared on Mexico's Pacific coast on Saturday, but little was known about an isolated part of the shoreline dotted with luxury villas and fishing villages, where the storm and its 165 mph (266 kph) winds landed.Thousands of residents and tourists had fled the advance of the storm, one of the strongest in recorded history, seeking refuge in hastily arranged shelters. There were no early reports of deaths and it appeared major damage was averted as Patricia missed tourist centers like Puerto Vallarta and the major cargo port of Manzanillo. REUTERS/Edgard Garrido

Two small green meteor tails are visible (center, top, left) in the desert night sky behind a road sign marking the level of the sea on the road leading from Jerusalem to Jericho during a rare display of the "Leonid" meteors early November 18. The "Leonid" meteors, named for their apparent emergence from the constellation of Leo, put on a spectacular show of shooting stars over desert areas and will not return for another 33 years. The shooting stars are caused by chunks of rock or iron from the debris trail of the Temple-Tuttle comet hitting the earth's atmosphere at speeds of around 155,000 miles per hour. Jericho and the nearby Dead Sea are the lowest points on earth at -408 meters.
