the Sandcastle Festival in Zeebrugge, northern Belgium, July 31, 2001.
A team of 60 carvers from the Netherlands, The United States, Spain,
France, Ireland and Belgium are building the biggest Belgian sandcastle
with a prehistoric theme. 8.3 million kilos of sands will be necessary
for the sculpture which will measure 80 metres in length, 60 metres
wide and will be finished for the opening of the exhibition on August
10.

Alonso Gomez of Colombia puts the finishing touches on a sand sculpture in tribute to Princess Diana along the Ipanema beachfront in Rio de Janeiro, September 4. Gomez, who teaches street children to make sand sculptures, took two days to make the project, which includes a likeness of the late Princess and an adjoining castle. He titled the project "Di's Dream.
