Pope John Paul II blesses the crowd gathered in St. Peter's Square October 27 during his regular Sunday address. The 76-year-old Pontiff had previously attended a ceremony in St. Peter's Basilica marking the 350th anniversary of the Union of Ozhorod, his first such public religious ceremony appearance since he underwent surgery to remove his appendix earlier in October.
